Junior Quantity Surveyor

Full Time €45,000 – €50,000 per annum Dublin

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Dublin-based client.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor at the early stage of their career to gain valuable hands-on experience across the commercial management of construction projects. Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and project teams, you will support cost management, procurement, valuations, variations and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in construction, good numerical and analytical skills, and a willingness to learn and develop within a busy project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with cost planning, estimating and budget preparation.
  • Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities, tender documentation and pricing schedules.
  • Assist with tender analysis and procurement activities.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Assist with interim valuations and payment applications.
  • Support the preparation of cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow information.
  • Monitor project costs and expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Assist with the assessment and valuation of variations and change orders.
  • Maintain accurate commercial and project records.
  • Assist with the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Support senior members of the commercial team with contractual and commercial administration.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal project teams.
  • Develop an understanding of construction contracts, commercial procedures and project cost control.

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years' relevant experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of construction methods, materials and processes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with QS software such as CostX and Bluebeam is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a project team.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable

Working towards membership of SCSI, RICS, AIQS or an equivalent professional body.
Previous experience within commercial, residential or infrastructure construction.
Some exposure to tendering, valuations, variations or cost reporting.
Placement or graduate experience within a construction or consultancy environment.
